Premier League an ´impossible mission´ for Mourinho and United

Fixture congestion, Manchester United's cluster of cup runs and Chelsea's hefty lead at the summit mean Jose Mourinho views the Premier League title as "an impossible mission".
United made it back-to-back 4-0 wins over Championship opponents in their defence of the FA Cup, with Marouane Fellaini, Chris Smalling, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Bastian Schweinsteiger on target in a routine victory against Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford on Sunday.

A run to next month's EFL Cup final against Southampton and their continued interest in the Europa League sees United battling for honours on multiple fronts.

This brings with it a heavy burden of fixture commitments and Mourinho was quick to draw a contrast between his own club and Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp's men having only the title race to focus upon following a 2-1 cup loss at home to Wolves on Saturday.

"In a realistic way I think the Premier League is almost an impossible mission," he said.

"But I don't think about it I just think about the next match and that is not an impossible mission.

"In the EFL Cup we have 50 per cent chances of winning, in the FA Cup we are in the last 16 and in the Europa League we are still in the last 32, so there are plenty of matches to play.

"Liverpool will play 16 matches to the end of the season, and we are in this crazy situation. Southampton will have 15 days before the final.

"We will have two matches against Saint-Etienne [in the Europa League] and the fifth round of the FA Cup."

Mourinho has already voiced his displeasure over the second leg of United's EFL Cup semi-final at Hull City taking place on Thursday and he expects further quirks of the fixture calendar to hinder his own team and others.

"I can guess we will have some amazing gifts," he said. "Watford had to play today and they play Tuesday.

"It's a laugh. How can they play after two days with so many games yesterday?"

CBN Warns Nigerians Against Bitcoins, Virtual Currencies Transactions

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned Nigerians against the use of virtual currencies, including bitcoin, ripples, litecoin

CBN in a statement issued on Tuesday, stated that virtual currencies are largely used in terrorism financing and money laundering, considering the anonymity of virtual transactions.

The statement read “The attention of bank and other financial institutions is hereby drawn to the above risks and you are required to take the following actions pending substantive regulation or decision by the CBN.

“Ensure that you do not use, hold, trade and/or transact in any way in virtual currencies. Ensure that existing customers that are virtual currency exchangers have effective capital AML/CFT controls that enable them to comply with customer identification, verification and transfer, monitoring requirements.

[the_ad id="194"]

“Where banks or other financial institutions are not satisfied with the controls put in place by the virtual currency exchanger/customers, the relationship should be discontinued immediately.

“Any suspicious transactions by these customers should immediately be reported to the Nigerian Finance Intellignece Unit (NFIU).”

The apex bank said anyone trading in bitcoin is doing so at his or her own risk.

“The CBN reiterates that VCs such as bitcoin, ripples, monero, litecoin, dogecion, onecoin, etc., and similar products are not legal tenders in Nigeria.

“Thus, any bank or institution that transacts in such businesses does so at its own risk.”

Bitcoin was the best performing currency of the year 2016. It has appreciated from four cents in 2010 to over $1,000 in 2017.

President Buhari Goes On Medical Vacation

President Muhammadu Buhari departed Abuja for London, United Kingdom on a medical vacation, yesterday. He will return to the country on February 6, 2017.

This is the second time the president would be seeking medical attention since he took office on May 29, 2015.

The first was in June last year when he left the country to treat an ear infection and returned after spending 13 days.

A statement by the Presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, said the President is going “on a short leave which is part of his annual vacation. During the vacation, the President will also undergo routine medical check-ups.”

Vanguard observed that the President had since the week been performing the functions of his office mostly at his official residence located within the precinct of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, rarely spending dutiful hours in the office.

For instance, it was at the residence that the President received Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, who visited the Presidential Villa about 1 p.m., on Tuesday.

Clutching a file, the governor was ushered into the president’s office.

Meeting his absence, Ayade was later taken to meet the President at his residence in a waiting SUV.

Since then, the President had not been seen performing outdoor duties.

The last he did was at the National Arcade, Abuja during the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration on Sunday.

Adesina’s statement added: “In line with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the President of the Senate, and Speaker, House of Representatives, have been duly communicated.”

While away, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, would perform the functions of the Office of the President.

Nothing is wrong with going on vacation —Buhari

Meanwhile, at the airport, yesterday, when the President was leaving the country, he said it was not unusual for a president to go on vacation.

Speaking to newsmen, he said: “What’s wrong with going on vacation? Didn’t I go last year at the same time?”
Buhari jets out ….

He’ll do routine medical checkups —Spokesman

Also speaking, his spokesman, Mr. Adesina, said President Buhari was going to rest and then do his routine medical check-ups, noting that there was no cause for alarm.

He said: “The president is going to rest. You know that God did work of creation for six days and on the seventh day He rested. So if God needed to rest, how much more human being.

“So the President is just going to rest and the statement we have released is straight forward. He will go on this leave and during the leave he will do routine medical checkups.

“We need to show goodwill towards our leaders, particularly President Buhari, who is working to give Nigeria a new footing, a new orientation.

“Nothing absolutely to worry about but a lot of goodwill, a lot prayers are necessary at all times.”

Also at the airport was the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, who had a brief meeting with the president.

He later said the meeting was to update the president on the operations of Nigerian troops in the crisis infested The Gambia.

He said: “The meeting was to give Mr. President update on our operations within and outside the country especially our involvement with the ECOWAS standby force that are being inducted into Senegal which has to do with the issue of mandate ensuring that the president elect of The Gambia is sworn in.”

Trump: Why Is US Spending Money To Fight Boko-Harram

Trump questions why US is spending money fighting Boko Haram

Just five days to his inauguration President-elect Donald J. Trump has questioned why the United State was still spending money to fight the Boko-Haram insurgency in Nigeria, why all of the schoolgirls kidnapped by the group have not been rescued and whether Qaeda operatives from Africa are living in the United States.

He went further questioned the effectiveness of one of the more significant counter terrorism efforts on the continent.
According to New York Times Trump in a four-page write up raised Africa-related questions.

“How does U.S. business compete with other nations in Africa? Are we losing out to the Chinese?” asks one of the first questions in the unclassified document provided to The New York Times.

That is quickly followed with queries about humanitarian assistance money. “With so much corruption in Africa, how much of our funding is stolen? Why should we spend these funds on Africa when we are suffering here in the U.S.?

Some of the questions are those that should be asked by a new administration seeking to come to grips with the hows and whys behind longstanding American national security and foreign assistance policies. But it is difficult to know whether the probing, critical tone of other questions indicates that significant policy changes should be expected.

On terrorism, the document asks why the United States is even bothering to fight the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, why all of the schoolgirls kidnapped by the group have not been rescued and whether Qaeda operatives from Africa are living in the United States. And it questions the effectiveness of one of the more significant counter terrorism efforts on the continent.

“We’ve been fighting al-Shabaab for a decade, why haven’t we won?” poses one question, referring to the terrorist group based in Somalia that was behind the Westgate mall attacks in Kenya in 2013.

Although the document represents a first look at how the new administration might approach policy toward Africa, a subject that was rarely touched on during the campaign, officials with the Trump transition team did not respond to queries about the list.

“Many of the questions that they are asking are the right questions that any incoming administration should ask,” said Monde Muyangwa, the director of the Africa program at the Woodrow Wilson Institute.

But she also noted that “the framing of some of their questions suggests a narrower definition of U.S. interests in Africa, and a more transactional and short-term approach to policy and engagement with African countries.”

Ms. Muyangwa said the queries could signal “a dramatic turn in how the United States will engage with the continent.”

J. Peter Pham, who has been mentioned for the job of assistant secretary of state for African affairs in a Trump administration, said he does not expect Mr. Trump to do a complete U-turn in relations with Africa.

Mr. Pham, director of the Africa program at the Atlantic Council, said he expects Mr. Trump will emphasize fighting extremism on the continent, while also looking to enhance opportunities for American businesses.

In other questions, the Trump transition team challenges the benefits of a trade pact known as the African Growth and Opportunity Act. “Most of AGOA imports are petroleum products, with the benefits going to national oil companies, why do we support that massive benefit to corrupt regimes?” the questionnaire asks.

Yet Mr. Pham said he expected a Trump administration would support the pact. “AGOA has created more than 120,000 jobs in the United States,” Mr. Pham said in an interview.

A big unknown, though, is how a Trump administration will handle foreign assistance to the continent and its 54 nations.

President George W. Bush quadrupled foreign assistance levels to African countries, and President Obama largely maintained that, even as his administration was making cuts elsewhere.

Even so, the amount of American aid in 2015 to other critical allies — Afghanistan ($5.5 billion), Israel ($3.1 billion), Iraq ($1.8 billion) and Egypt ($1.4 billion) — far exceeded the approximately $8 billion for all of sub-Saharan Africa.

The questions seem to reflect the inaccurate view shared by many Americans about how much the United States spends on foreign aid and global health programs. Polls show that Americans believe the country spends 25 percent of its budget on foreign aid — but the truth is that foreign aid is just 1 percent of the federal budget.

“We’ve been hunting Kony for years, is it worth the effort?” poses another series of questions related to Joseph Kony, the warlord head of Uganda’s violent guerrilla group the Lord’s Resistance Army, who has eluded the authorities for three decades. “The LRA has never attacked U.S. interests, why do we care? Is it worth the huge cash outlays? I hear that even the Ugandans are looking to stop searching for him, since they no longer view him as a threat, so why do we?”

The hunt for Mr. Kony and his fighters has generated a huge amount of publicity around the world, in large part because of a video on his elusiveness and brutality, “Kony 2012,” that has been viewed more than 100 million times on YouTube.

But other questions, foreign policy experts say, return to a theme of a continent that has squandered American money and effort. The questions challenge, for instance, a hallmark of Mr. Bush’s Africa policy — the Pepfar program, which has provided billions to fight AIDS and tuberculosis in Africa.

Rex W. Tillerson, Mr. Trump’s nominee for secretary of state, complimented the program, calling Pepfar “one of the most extraordinarily successful programs in Africa” during his Senate nomination hearing.

But, in contrast, the Trump transition questionnaire asks, “Is PEPFAR worth the massive investment when there are so many security concerns in Africa? Is PEPFAR becoming a massive, international entitlement program?”

J. Stephen Morrison, director of the Global Health Policy Center at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said the questions showed an “overwhelmingly negative and disparaging outlook” on the continent.

“A strange attitude runs through this,” he said. “There’s a sort of recurrent skepticism that Africa matters to U.S. interests at all. It’s entirely negative in orientation.”

But the questions do appear to accurately reflect what Mr. Trump has said publicly about Africa in the few times that he has mentioned the continent.

For instance, during the Ebola crisis in 2014, Mr. Trump took to Twitter to argue that Americans infected with Ebola should not be allowed back into the United States. As two American health workers became critically ill and were airlifted to Atlanta for treatment, Mr. Trump had this to say via Twitter: “Stop the EBOLA patients from entering the U.S. Treat them, at the highest level, over there. THE UNITED STATES HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS!”

The Ebola epidemic, which killed almost 10,000 people in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia (but no Americans), comes up once in the document.

“How,” the questionnaire asks, “do we prevent the next Ebola outbreak from hitting the U.S.?”

Justice Ngwuta gave me N313million nine months - Witness Confessed

Justice Ngwuta gave me N313million nine months

A building contractor, Mr. Linus Nwamba, yesterday, said that Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court, who is facing money laundering charges, handed him over N313 million within nine months.

Nwamba, who testified before a Federal High Court in Abuja as the first prosecution witness, PW-1, said Justice Ngwuta gave him the money in cash, between January 4 and September 2016.

The witness who was led in evidence by government lawyer, Mr. Charles Adeogun-Philips, narrated to the court how the embattled jurist called him barely 24 hours after he was released on administrative bail by the Department of State Service, DSS and directed him to go to his residence in Abakaliki in Ebonyi State and remove N27million he hid in his bathroom.

He said Ngwuta who made the call via through unregistered telephone line, equally mandated him to dispose off three exotic cars that were parked at his residence in his home town, as well as a bag containing several documents.

Ngwuta is facing a 16-count charge of money laundering, age falsification and alleged illegal possession of multiple international passports.

He was docked before the court on November 21, 2016 and subsequently granted bail in the sum of N100 million.
Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court

In his evidence-in-chief, the PW-1 who is the owner of Base4 Services Limited, told the court that his first encounter with Justice Ngwuta was in 2015.

He said: “The defendant in this case is my customer. I was introduced to him by someone who told me that he was in need of a reputable firm or individual to handle certain building and construction work for him.

“The person’s name is Mr. Kenneth, a motor mechanic. On December 31, 2015, which was the first day I met the defendant, he showed me an empty plot of land close to his house and told me the structures he would want my company to design and build for him.

“I took the brief, assembled my workers and we came up with designs of those buildings he mentioned and built them as well. The structures he asked me to construct were a storey building library block, a four bedroom bungalow with kitchen, all self-contained, to reclaim a plot that was swampy and make it habitable, to also raise two four detached bedroom duplexes and to put a huge fence to contain all the structures and connect it with the existing ones. And to build a car park to house some vehicles.

“After I got the instruction, I prepared my drawings and designs and took them to him for approval on January 2, 2016. He was satisfied with our presentations and designs.

“I saw the defendant again on January 4. I presented my bill to him through my quotations for payment. The amount I quoted was N148m.

“The defendant did not agree to pay the amount. He offered to pay N130m. On that January 4, I was mobilised to commence work for the defendant. He gave me N40m in cash comprising N25m and equivalent of N15m in US dollars..

“There was no formal contractual document between us. There is no record except for acknowledgement in some of my quotation papers and notes the defendant gave to me. Deadline for completion of the project was October 2016, which was 10 months. I achieved the deadline and I was fully paid for the project all in cash both in foreign and local currencies.

“I cannot recall how much exactly was given to me in foreign currencies. That was however, not the end of my relationship with the defendant. We had another construction project at Onwe Road in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

“The project involved demolition of a dilapidated building, sand-filling the area to achieve a reasonable level because it was very down from the road and then the construction of four units of four bedroom duplexes for commercial purposes.”

“My quotation for the second project was N165m. The defendant has not paid me all the money. So far I have received a total of N100m. The project is up to 70 percent completion. He gave me the N100m in cash, record of the payment is on my quotation sheet. I got the cash in both foreign and local currencies. There was no specific deadline for the project.

“There was also another re-construction project at Amofia Ukagwu, Onicha LGA in Ebonyi. The project involves demolition of a poorly built structure and to erect a duplex with a pent house, a boys quarter, fencing, painting, a gate-house and decoration.

“The agreed project cost was N110m. I received N83m out of the amount from the defendant by cash and money transfer through the bank. I got N53m in cash, both in local and foreign currencies. The balance was sent to me through inter-bank transfer from Union Bank to my account in Zenith Bank.

“Deadline for completion of the third project was December 2016. We commenced the project in June. The total amount I received for the three projects was N313m from January 4 to September 2016.

“Indeed I was deeply concerned and bothered about receiving such huge amounts of cash from the defendant. I was concerned about the safety of the defendant and the huge cash around him. I was not previously accustomed to receiving such huge amounts of cash from my customers.

“At one point ,I raised my concern to the defendant. He told me not to bother because those were proceeds from his work and overseas conferences and other assignments he engage people to do for him.

“He said that he got his money legitimately and saved it. He said that he attended conferences of Supreme Court Justices and other such conferences where he was paid in hard currencies and that he never went on holidays overseas like other Judges.

“I had contact with the defendant on October 9, 2016, shortly after his arrest through a certain un-saved number. He called and told me that I should go to his residential building. That he doesn’t know what was happening at his house in Abuja. That I should enter his bathroom and remove some bags and items there.

“That I should move the items out. That he was afraid because his house in Abuja was evaded by security operatives. So I proceeded and did exactly what he told me to do.

“I was at Abakaliki doing some of the construction work when the call came in. I believe the defendant was in Abuja when he made the call with a number not familiar to me. The call was in the afternoon.

Expelled Students Killed Nigerian Army Commandant - Olagold News

THE 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, on Wednesday, paraded six people suspected to be involved in the murder of the Commandant of Command Secondary School, Apata, Ibadan, Colonel Anthony Okeyim in December 2016.

The 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, yesterday, said the killing, last December, of Colonel Anthony Okeyim, Commandant, Command Secondary School, Apata, Ibadan, was masterminded by a student, who was expelled over theft.

The revelation was made, yesterday, when the Division paraded six suspects arrested in connection with the Commandant’s death.

The lifeless body of Okeyim was found at the premises of the school on December 12, 2016.

The command had earlier informed the public that the late Okeyim died as a result of rise in intracranial pressure from intracranial haemorrhage caused by fracture of the skull.
The six suspected student who allegedly killed Ibadan Commandant paraded before newsmen in Ibadan, yesterday.

Presenting the suspects to newsmen, Colonel Timothy Antigha, Deputy Director, Public Relations, 2 Division, Nigerian Army, said that investigation conducted showed that the suspects played varying roles in the killing of Okeyim.

Antigha said that the alleged killer of the senior officer stole his Samsung X4 phone and this helped in arresting the suspects.

He said that the suspects went to the Command Secondary School, Apata, with their Toyota Camry car to kill the officer in his house.

Antigha said that one of the suspects was a student of the school, who was expelled earlier by the school authorities over alleged theft, who gave the other suspects the logistics, leading to the death of the senior officer.

Antigha said that the Army was able to arrest the suspects with active collaboration of the Oyo State Police Command and Department of State Services, DSS.

According to him, “on behalf of the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Maj.-Gen. Chukwunedum Abraham, I thank the Nigeria Police and DSS, Oyo State Command, for their support.

“Without the support, very little progress would have been made in unearthing the circumstances surrounding the death of the late senior officer.”

The arrested suspects included:

Solomon Agada Emmanuel (20), Bibisoye Kehinde a.k.a. Efrebor (27), Ewere Andrew (25), Ephraim Obi (38) and Udobata Onusa-Uze a.k.a Kaka (28).

Briefing journalists on the development at the headquarters of the 2 Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo, Ibadan, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 2 Division, Colonel Timothy Antigha, said that the six suspects, including a former student of the school, were believed to have played varying roles in the killing of the late senior military officer in his residence.

Giving details of the Army’s discovery, Colonel Antigha said that on the day the late Commandant was killed, his handset, a Samsung S4, was stolen, but in the course of investigation, it was found in the possession of one of the suspects, Taiwo Adeniyi, who admitted that on the night of December 11, 2016, he and other suspects went to Command Secondary School, Bode Igbo, in an ash-colour Toyota Camry car belonging to one of the suspects, where the Colonel Okeyim was killed.

While thanking the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services for their support in the investigation, the Commander, Military Police, Colonel Abdullahi Ibrahim, said the suspects would be handed over to the Oyo State Police Command for prosecution

Donald Trump: I don’t want celebrities at my inauguration

“I don’t like tweeting & I don’t want celebrities at my inauguration” – Donald Trump

Donald Trump, whose early-morning rants and policy pronouncements on Twitter have left the world hanging on his every typed word, has said he doesn’t like using the social media platform in comments to air Wednesday.

“I don’t like tweeting,” Trump told Fox News’s “Fox & Friends” program.

“I have other things I could be doing. But I get very dishonest media, very dishonest press. And it’s my only way that I can counteract,” he said in excerpts of the interview released late Tuesday.
Since winning the presidency in November, the Republican has exploited Twitter to make administrative announcements, weigh in on foreign policy — and hurl barbs at anyone who crosses him.

Asked if he would continue to use it as president, Trump said: “Yes.”

A-list celebrities have also backed off from Donald Trump’s inauguration in droves, leaving Trump
struggling like none of his predecessors to find household names as entertainment.

“Many of the celebrities that are saying they’re not going, they were never invited. I don’t want the celebrities, I want the people, and we have the biggest celebrities in the world there,” Trump told Fox.

He took a similar line towards fashion designers, many of whom have declined to clothe his wife Melania or have discouraged others from dressing the former model.

Asked about Tom Ford’s refusal, Trump said that his wife:

“Never asked Tom Ford, doesn’t like Tom Ford, doesn’t like his designs.”

I Will Stay At Barcelona As Long As They Wants Me - Messi Vows

Lionel Messi insists that he will stay at Barcelona for as long as he is wanted, despite reported interest from the Premier League.

The Argentina star's future remains the subject of debate given the confusion surrounding talks over a new contract at Camp Nou.

President Josep Maria Bartomeu said last week that he is not concerned about the prospect of failing to agree an extension to Messi's deal, which expires at the end of next season, although some reports in Spain have suggested that the 29-year-old is becoming frustrated with a lack of concrete discussions between the club and his representatives.

Such rumours have led to speculation that Messi could be sold at the end of the season, with clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly monitoring his situation.

However, when asked whether he would consider moving to England's top flight, Messi told Coach magazine: "I have always said that Barcelona has given me everything and I am here for as long as they want me to be."

Links with City have persisted ever since former Barca boss Pep Guardiola took over as manager, although the Catalan coach has come under increasing scrutiny given his side's inconsistent form, which culminated in a 4-0 loss to Everton on Sunday.

Messi, however, remains confident that Guardiola will be a success in England.
"It is a very competitive league, last season showed that, so it makes it very difficult to predict," he said. "Of course Pep is a very successful coach, he will be adjusting to the league, but I am sure that he will be successful."

Barca remain in the hunt for a treble of LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League this season, although they sit two points behind leaders Real Madrid having played a game more.

Messi claims that there is no single competition that Barca will prioritise in the remaining months of the campaign and admits the prospect of failure is spurring him on.

"At Barcelona we want to win everything," he said. " At the start of the season there is an expectation that we can win everything, we try not to prioritise or make one trophy more important than another
"I hate to lose. It does not just affect me for a few hours after the game, but for longer. I cannot stand the feeling to lose. You can use that to make sure you give everything you need to to win."

Ways To Prevent Your Smartphone From Overheating

Overheating is one of the major problem smartphone users face today. With increased processing power and packing large batteries with fast-charging technology, users often face situations when their smartphones over heat during certain tasks. This may be during charging, playing/recording 4K content or while using heavy apps.

Though in most cases overheating is a hardware issue, there are also some tips that you can follow to ensure that your smartphone does not overheat.

Remove the case
Keeping the smartphone in a cover case traps the heat emitted out of the handset and so removing it can help reduce overheating to some extent.

Keep it on a hard surface while charging
While charging your smartphone, keep it on a hard surface instead of on a bed or a sofa which absorb heat. As during charging, the heat emitted gets trapped inside and warms up the smartphone even more.

Avoid overnight charging
Many of us leave our smartphones for charging overnight. Keeping the smartphone on charge overnight not only affects the efficiency of your battery in the long run, but also heats up the device. There have been cases where smartphone batteries have exploded due to overcharging.

Kill those apps
There are some apps which are a drain on both processing power as well as graphics, such apps too heat up the device. These apps play in the background and add to the processing power’s drainout. This excess of processing power results in overheating of the device.

Avoid direct sunlight
Users can also prevent handsets, especially ones featuring plastic back panel, from heating up by not keeping them under direct sunlight. The heat coming from the sunlight along with all the processing power running in the background are bound to heat-up your smartphone.

Avoid third-party chargers and batteries
Some third-party chargers and batteries too are responsible for heating up of smartphones. Not only batteries, but chargers with different wattage too heat up the smartphones to some extent.

Trump blasts media over Russia allegations in first briefing since being elected

New York - President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday flatly denied "phony" explosive allegations about ties with Russia and lurid behaviour on a trip to Moscow that have tainted his election victory and threatened to engulf his presidency.

Just over a week before Trump takes office, the United States has been rocked by unsubstantiated claims that his aides colluded with the Kremlin to win the election - and that Russia has compromising sexual material on Trump.

"I think it's a disgrace that information would be let out," Trump said, training fire on media outlets that published the allegations and the intelligence agencies who he suggested may have leaked it.

"It's all fake news. It's phony stuff. It didn't happen," he said in his first press conference in nearly six months.

"It was a group of opponents that got together, sick people, and they put that crap together."

It "was released by maybe the intelligence agencies, who knows, but maybe the intelligence agencies, which would be a tremendous blot on their record," Trump said, later saying it was "disgraceful".

On Twitter, he decried a political "witch hunt" against him and asked: "Are we living in Nazi Germany?"

'No dealings with Russia'

The US intelligence community has concluded Moscow interfered in the November election in a bid to tip the race in Trump's favour.

Intelligence chiefs last week also presented America's incoming 45th president, as well as current President Barack Obama, with a two-page synopsis on the potentially embarrassing but unsubstantiated allegations involving Russia, according to CNN and The New York Times, who cited multiple unnamed US officials with knowledge of the meeting.

The Kremlin has dismissed the dossier - drawn up by a former British intelligence agent hired to do "opposition research" on Trump during the presidential campaign and published by US media outlet BuzzFeed - as a "total fake" aimed at damaging bilateral ties.

Trump spokesperson Sean Spicer turned his fire on BuzzFeed.

"It's frankly outrageous and highly irresponsible for a left-wing blog that was openly hostile to the president-elect's campaign to drop highly salacious and flat-out false information on the internet just days before he takes the oath of office," he said, introducing Trump.

Trump later called BuzzFeed "a failing pile of garbage" and warned they would "suffer the consequences".

"I have no dealings with Russia. I have no deals in Russia. I have no deals that could happen in Russia, because we've stayed away. And I have no loans with Russia," Trump then said.

Even before the allegations surfaced widely in US media on Tuesday, Trump's Republican allies have become increasingly uneasy about Russia's role in the election, with calls for an independent investigation growing.

The issue threatens to sap legitimacy from the Trump administration before it even enters the Oval Office.

Trump fanned the flames by again downplaying Russia's influence in the outcome of the election and defended his openness towards Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"As far as hacking, I think it was Russia, but I also think we've been hacked by other countries, other people."

"If Putin likes Donald Trump, I consider that an asset, not a liability, because we have a horrible relationship with Russia," Trump said.

"I don't know that I'm going to get along with Vladimir Putin. I hope I do. But there's a good chance I won't."

The dossier

Without corroborating its contents, BuzzFeed published a 35-page dossier of memos on which the synopsis presented to Trump is based.

The memos, which had been circulating in Washington for months, describe sex videos involving prostitutes filmed during a 2013 visit by Trump to a luxury Moscow hotel, supposedly as a potential means for blackmail.

They also suggest Russian officials proposed lucrative deals in order to win influence over the real estate magnate.

Trump was reportedly informed of the existence of the dossier - and its salacious details - last Friday when he received a briefing from US intelligence chiefs on alleged Russian interference in the presidential election.

The classified two-page synopsis reportedly included allegations that there was a regular flow of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and Russian government intermediaries, which a Trump aide denied.

On Wednesday, Trump would not comment on the classified briefing, but did say he had read some of the information "outside of the briefing," without specifying which parts.

"The Kremlin does not have compromising information on Trump," Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

The Kremlin spokesperson called the dossier a "total fake" and "an obvious attempt to harm our bilateral relations".

No more rule book

No other US president-elect in modern times has waited so long to go formally before the media, considered important to shore up public accountability, yet Trump has revelled in ripping up the rule book.

During his last press conference - before the election - he invited Russia to hack his Democratic opponents.

The New York billionaire, never previously elected to office, has preferred to make off-the-cuff statements, punch out incendiary tweets and call out anyone who dares cross him - from Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep to an Indiana union leader.

  1. While he has conducted one-on-one interviews with select media and taken questions from reporters in informal settings, his performance at the press conference will be scrutinised, as polls show his already bleak approval ratings deteriorate further as the clock ticks down to inauguration day on January 20.

Meryl Streep takes on Donald Trump at Golden Globes and Trump strikes back

Meryl Streep takes on Donald Trump at Golden Globes ... and Trump strikes back

Fallon, who has been dinged in the past for being too soft on the future president, took a few swipes at Trump during his opening monologue, comparing him to the villainous King Joffrey from "Game of Thrones" while saying the Globes ceremony was "one of the few places left where America still honors the popular vote."

Still, the more pointed political commentary came during the acceptance speeches.

Tracee Ellis Ross, a winner for best actress in a TV comedy for "Blackish," dedicated her victory to "all the women of color and colorful people whose stories ideas thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important."

"I want you to know we see you — I see you," she added.

Trump attacked "Blackish" when it made its debut back in 2014, tweeting: "How is ABC Television allowed to have a show entitled 'Blackish? Can you imagine the furor of a show, 'Whiteish'! Racism at highest level?"

Earlier Sunday, a promo for a coming episode of "Blackish" rolled out, portraying the characters' negative reaction to Trump's victory.

Meanwhile, Hugh Laurie, a winner for his performance on the TV mini-series "The Night Manager," took direct aim at Trump and his supporters, without mentioning him by name.

"I'll be able to say I won this at the last ever Golden Globes," he said in reference to concern over Trump's controversial rhetoric on nuclear proliferation.

"I don't mean to be gloomy. but it has the words 'Hollywood,' 'Foreign' and 'Press' in the title. I also think to some Republicans even the word association is slightly sketchy," Laurie added.

"I accept this award on behalf of psychopathic billionaires everywhere," he joked later.

Bryon Howard, one of the directors of the blockbuster animated film "Zootopia," also appeared to make a veiled reference to Trump, when he said: "We wanted 'Zootopia' to be a film that not only entertained kids but also spoke to adults about embracing diversity, even when there are people in the world who want to divide us by using fear."

The Chemistry Between Funke And I Was At First Sight, JJC Skillz Says

Singer, producer and video director, AbdulRasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, talks about his career and marriage to popular actress and producer, Funke Akindele-Bello

When was the first time you knew you wanted to do music?

I think I have always wanted to do music from when I was a young boy. I used to have an area group in Kano, and we used to do Apala music from door-to-door. I actually thought I was going to become a Fuji star. We’d go to people’s houses, knock on their doors and when they opened, we made them laugh by singing some funny songs. From then, I knew I wanted to become an entertainer. When I moved to England at 14, I became a hip-hop artiste. Meanwhile, I formed my first group in school called Secret Weapon, and it has always been that way. I was always forming one group after another, until I had a successful group called Big Brovaz signed to Sony.

How did you coin the name JJC?

Back then, I had a heavy Nigerian accent, and everyone used to laugh at me. Hence, the reason I gave myself the name JJC which is an abbreviation of Johny Just Come, which is used to describe someone who just arrived a place. When I realised that they weren’t going to accept me, I decided that the best thing to do was to bring people from the neighbourhood together that had the accent and the swag. I created my own group, signed them and started promoting them, even though I was about 19 at the time. Two years later, we won the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Award as the best unsigned artistes from London. From that point on, all the record labels wanted to work with us.

You have an affinity for being in groups, don’t you think you can stand alone?

I will say I am inspired by many people like Dr. Dre, Puff Daddy, Timbaland etc. Those people have their own identity, just like if anyone sees me, they will know that’s JJC of We Are Africans fame. But more importantly, it is about being able to transfer that knowledge that I have to other people. I do not see myself as just an entertainer, but as someone that can develop people. And that is why I have been developing groups and artistes.

After I got Big Brovaz signed to Sony and we went platinum, we travelled to America to do the movie, Scooby Doo. After that, I stepped out of the group because I felt it was becoming too oyinbo-like for me. I wanted to create something a bit more homely, because right from when I was a child, I was one of those guys that went about saying Nigeria is the best land. Then, people used to think I was crazy for saying that, but I knew that one day, I would come back home, and here I am. Anyway, while Big Brovaz was still big, I started another group called JJC and the 419 Squad, which was very successful as we had over a million album sales and won KORA award. However, most of the members later moved back to Nigeria, while I stayed back in the UK. I then decided to start another group called Mr Skillz and the Crazy Girls, which got signed to EMI Records. After that, I left the music scene and went into video production which is my other passion.

Of all the groups you have worked with, which did you have the most chemistry with?

I think I had chemistry with everyone I had worked with. Right now, I am having the time of my life with Scene One Productions, which is a new record label I’m working on with my wife, Funke Akindele-Bello.

Do you play any instrument?

I play a bit of the piano. On every single group I worked on, I did a bit of production. I also developed other producers, like Don Jazzy, to produce for groups as well.

When you first met Dbanj and Don Jazzy, did you have any inkling that they had what it takes to become superstars?

The truth is I usually see greatness in people even before they see it in themselves. When I first met Don Jazzy, he was a piano player for Mr. Solek; he was not a producer. But the passion he had for music made me know that he could be transformed into a wonderful producer. Dbanj was a harmonica player and he was very fun to be with. He was funny, lively and had the charisma of a super star. I saw all that in them, and that is why I picked them. And I picked so many other people just like that.

What was Don Jazzy’s role while you were working together?

He was an upcoming producer that was set to take over the scene. And that was what he was there for.

Are you still on good terms with Dbanj and Don Jazzy?

We are all cool; it’s one family. But you know they say, there are no permanent friends or enemies; just interests.

When Mo’hits fell apart, did you try to mediate and bring them back together?

When their journey continued after the JJC university of music, what they did and what they created was none of my business. And it is not really my place to come into someone else’s business and tell them what to do, and how to do it. So no, I did not get involved.

How are you finding the experience of being a video director?

It feels like a natural progression because I studied video editing and production, which I passed with distinctions. While still in the UK, I got a job as a video editor and I did that for two years, working for  big companies. Music is more of a situation where you are always pumping money into it, but video is where you make money.

So you have made more money as a video director than as a music artiste?

I wouldn’t say that; I have made money both ways. The good thing about music is that if you do it well and monetise it, the money keeps on coming non-stop. You can make money from a song years after it was recorded and released.

As an entertainer, what has marriage changed about you?

It has made me more focused. It has also given me more stability and peace of mind.

You once said that you were wary of any  kind of   emotional attachment, why did you  decide to get married to Funke Akindele?

In life, when you find the right person, nobody needs to tell you to settle down. It is like finding God; you may be a bad boy in the club today, and the next day, you’re in front of the church shouting ‘Halleluyah.’ Nobody can determine when that change will happen, and I’m very happy that it has happened to me.

How did you meet your wife?

Read To The End

This is a very interesting story and a lesson for men.

(To men) Please take time to ponder. 😕

(To women) Just enjoy the story. 😋

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighbouring kingdom.

The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question was:
*What do women really want?*

Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man. And to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men, and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer. But the price would be high as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but first he would have to agree to her price.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table, and Arthur's closest friend. Young Arthur was horrified.

She was hunch-backed and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc.

He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life. He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden.

But Lancelot, having learnt of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life. And the reservation of the Round Table. Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered.

Arthur's question thus:
"What a woman really wants?"

She said, "A woman wants to be in charge of her own life."

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth, and that Arthur's life would be spared. And so it was. The neighbouring monarch granted Arthur his freedom. And Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and, Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him.

The most beautiful woman he had ever seen was sitting by the bed.

The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened. The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth become her horrible and deformed self only half the time, and be the beautiful maiden the other half.

"Which would you prefer?" She asked him. "BEUATIFUL during the DAY... OR at NIGHT?"

Lancelot pondered the predicament.

During the day, he could have a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch!

OR,

would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day? But by night a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous moments with?

(If you are a man reading this) What would YOUR choice be?

(If you are a woman reading this) What would YOUR MAN'S choice be?

And Lancelot's choice is given below...

BUT, please make YOUR choice first before you scroll down below!

OKAY?

Knowing the answer the witch gave to Arthur for his question, Sir Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now, what is the moral to this

The moral is...

1. There is a 'witch' in every woman, no matter how beautiful she is. It's how a man manages it

2. If you let a woman decide on her own she gives u d best. but if u force her with ur decisions she becomes a witch.

Hmmmm
What do you think ?

So, be careful how you treat a woman.

Football joke

Why is football played for 45 minutes in each half?
Sepp Blatter failed to answer this question at the latest press conference.
Even the so called sports analysts, sports scientists and soccer legends do not know why.
Just to help out you and all those who do not know, here is the answer:
There are 2 teams and there are 11 players in each team i.e. 22 players.
Each player brings his own 2 balls (hidden in his sports underwear)!
So in total there are 2 times 22 equals 44 balls.
There is one ball on the ground itself, being played. Thus the grand total is 45.
That's the answer!!!!
Of course, sometimes there is extra time of 2 mins - (which is the referee's balls!)
Lol
